THE STORY OF ROCK SHUNGU

Rock Shungu is perched on the coast near the small town of Shungubweni, a region  described as the last authentic stretch of Swahili coastline. Conveniently located approximately two hours drive from central Dar Es Salaam, yet worlds apart from the hustle and bustle of the city, this small family camp surrounded by white sands, lagoons and mangrove forests offers a peaceful retreat for those seeking a unique experience of Tanzania.

Rock Shungu started off as a family camp which has over the years transformed into a beautiful and fully equipped bolt-hole from the city. There are currently three chalets, three tented campers and a campsite.

We offer a range of activities that can be tailored to the type of holiday you would like. We aim to run as eco-friendly as possible and are proud to say that the entire camp runs on solar power.
